Set 300 years after the events in Knights of the Old Republic (and featuring some familiar faces), Star Wars: The Old Republic will put players on either side of a massive war between the Republic and the Empire. "It's not a day-in-the-life of Star Wars," Ray emphasizes; "It's about being a hero." They want the game to fit the scale and proportions of a conflict that spans the entire galaxy. The game will follow BioWare's emphasis on "choice with consequences" with room for players to be ambiguous or conflicted about their motives. In short, Greg says, it's what BioWare fans want: a perpetual RPG that delivers the full BioWare experience.





I have to say, that looks pretty bad.
My favorite quote was "This takes place 300 years after KOTOR II and encompasses the events of KOTORs 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and so on."
Ew....that looks pretty meh to me.
Even if I liked Star Wars I don't think I'd be interested.

Why can't they just deliver a wider single player epic rather than have us deal with questing and trading with other players?

Well for the most part, they made it a point to mention the emphasis will be on story (class based story and relevant missions). So that's the main key and seller there, committing the ultimate MMO taboo by adding history to your character and a story to push you along (not stats alone).

My interest is definitely piqued! I just hope I have a 360 by the time it's released, I don't want to play this on a PC Yell

And yeah, those pictures almost as bad than Quantum of Solace and Toshinden on the Wii. But after seeing those early images of DC Universe Online, I have hopes they'll improve. It is still early.

I thought it was a PC only title Epcott?
It seems a bit ambitious to have class-based stories for each character. I have a hard time seeing how players won't clash incessantly with each other.

Seems like a good idea in theory, but I won't be picking it up unless it lands on 360 or PS3, and even then. . .AFTER it drops in price.

It's only been announced for PC (they wouldn't comment on any other platforms yet since they say it's still a ways off). But it seems like a shoe-in for the 360 given the success of KOTOR and KOTOR II on MS consoles, also given the relationship BioWare has had with MS in the past.

EA is the wild card, since exclusives are not really their cup of tea (they want to maximize profits)... so it could very well end up on the PS3, but I'm not holding my breath.

I dunno Epcott. By the time KOTOR MMO launches, PS3 will have gotten The Agency and DC Universe most likely. Compared to the 360's run of cancelled MMOs of Marvel, Age of Conan, and True Fantasy, both Sony and MS have FFXI, and 360 will potentially have Champions Online...

I don't see why EA wouldn't put it on both actually. By that time both platforms will be viable MMO stations.
I would put an MMO on the gaming system with the least amount of MMOs. That is a special breed of game and I think it actually calls for less of that genre on the system.

Its EA though so that seals the deal. It'll be on both if its on either. If EA hadn't bought BioWare I would've put money down that it would be a PC/360 game but now that EA has bought them, I would think it will be on all three.
