I never played the first game on the accounts of how mediocre it was, but this one has me getting pretty excited.
Very interesting. I'm glad they pushed this to next year though because I already have enough on my plate. I think that Sony probably put enough money into this game to make it at least much better than Killzone, which I found to be very disappointing. Looks pretty good, I'd just like to see how it plays.
The first Killzone was kind of a mixed bag but that was more because of the over-reaching ambition of its design combined with the limitations of the hardware it was on.

The first half of the game was a lot of fun, the combat in the urban environments felt intense and it really truely did look amazing at the time. It only sucked once you got beyond the urban environments, they tried to play the environmental design to the hardware's limitations but kinda failed.

I think people would've been more forgiving of itsd flaw if it wasn't dubbed a Halo killer.

Of the two shooters on the Playstation 3 I'm more interested in this game than I am Resistance 2. Hell, now I want to replay the first Killzone but I think I say that every time I see a Killzone 2 trailer.
Here are some new gameplay footage:

Everything looks pretty slick.
Looks pretty damn cool, I think we're getting closer to CGI video graphics all the time.
Looks awesome and I was one of those who didn't totally hate the first Killzone, so I'm looking forward to this.
Official street date for this February 27, 2009 in North America.

The following clip showcases two new weapons from the game:

That flamethrower sure does look fun to play around with Smile
The first Killzone was sadly labeled a Halo Killer, setting it up for expectations it couldn't and didn't seem to even want to have. They weren't the same game. But because of that marketing-made label, XBox fans scoffed at it, and Sony fans were let down. The game tried to do what the PS2 couldn't handle, and that is why I've always been optimistic about Killzone 2. It is on a console that can handle the teams vision for the game, and I think that will show in the final product.

Here is hoping at least.
Whatever one feels about the original, there is so much potential for Killzone 2. And judging from those gameplay videos and that trailer, it looks as if the game is going to succeed in many ways.

Personally I couldn't get into the original, and stopped playing it pretty quick. I couldn't help but think while playing it: "The PS2 is holding this game back...". Even the analog controls seemed lacking.

Killzone 2, however, will be a completely different beast. First, the PS3 will certainly not hold the series back. In fact, even as talented as the team assuredly is, they most likely won't be able to extract all of the power of the PS3. Second, I've heard some impressions from game journalists who have played the beta, and they say the game feels and controls very much like modern FPSs. One gentlemen even compared its control style and feel to Call of Duty 4's.

Halo Killer 2.0? Who cares.
One thing that's kind of mind blowing, they've easily met the projection videos for Killzone 2 that people got so mad about back two or three years ago.
I've noticed that, but no one seems to be throwing out the 'I told you so's' that I was expecting.
Listening to the latest 1up Yours podcast I really wish I had gotten into the Killzone 2 beta. It's weird I got invites to two betas I didn't care about--Home and Resistance 2--and not one for a game I genuinely am interested and looking forward to buying.

The more I see and read about this game, the more I want it. I'm definently going to grab the original once I knock a few other games
