Are you satisfied with how many games you CONQUERED this year or what.
personally I believe this may be the year I've beaten the most games (50 as of this writing); unfortunately I pussied out sometime around Spring and stopped playing old games I've wanted to beat but stopped caring to do so. I really wanted to take a load of Genesis games off my chest, blah.
anyways so far this year was great, just sucks I stopped caring to beat old games I've had for years but never got around to. So maybe this thread will help inspire me to do so
I'm up to 23 games finished so far. I'm definitely not reaching my goal (50) but I did finish more now than I did last year. I created a profile on The Backloggery and it looks like I have a little over 100 unfinished games in my backlog including digital downloads a la VC, PSN, XBLA.
I think I can reach 30 if I go back to the games that I almost finished. So am I satisfied with my number so far? No.
I'm going to have to really crunch after my semester is over (December 12) to get to my goal of 60. I just didn't have the time to play as many games! Sucks but what can ya do?
I've only finished two or three all year. I've got a few like Lost Odyssey that are near the end and I just need to finish off, but I generally don't finish most games anymore.
Once I finish updating all the missing months in our game beatings thread, I will know for sure what my total is. I do know however, that once school began my completion rate dropped significantly.
I'm quite positive I've beaten less this year but I've also put a ton of time into World of Warcraft. I started playing in May or June I think it was and my main character has over 22 days logged on her. And then between all my alts I'm guessing I've got at least three or four more days. At 25 days logged that's 600 hours that I wasn't playing other games
Also there's Rock Band and Rock Band 2. I don't think I'd be wrong to guess that I've put at least 300 hours into both games combined just this year.
Put those together and that brings down a lot of play time I'd have for all the other games. I've still likely beaten something like 25 games? Maybe 30? I know at the beginning of the year I got through a bunch of arcade games pretty quickly and some others but I stopped worrying as much as mostly just got through really big releases.
My gaming habits have been similar to Wibble's this year. I've spent so much time this year playing Rock Band and Rock Band 2, and re-playing Final Fantasy XI (not WoW, but I love it), Call of Duty 4 multiplayer and Team Fortress 2, it has significantly cut back the number of games I could have beaten this year. We're talking hundrends and hundreds of hours. But I wouldn't of had it any other way.
In between last year's holiday rush and this year's, there just haven't been very many games I've really gotten into. But the ones I did get into: Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metal Gear Solid 4, Mario Kart Wii, etc, were spectacular.
36 new games beaten, 6 oldbies re-beaten. My initial goal was 60 new games beaten this year. I'm not going to reach that, but I am happy with my results. Last year I beat 40 games total, and only replayed one. Realistically, I think I can do 45 new games before year's end. I really love keeping track of how many games I've beaten, it's a great motivator. These past two years have been my very best for gaming, so much fun.
Out of my beatings this year, I'd say my top five are....
1. Persona 3 FES
2. Metal Gear Solid 4
3. Devil May Cry 3
4. Cave Story
5. Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
Where the hell have you been!
I've been slacking the last few months. I'm really close to beating Mega Man 9, Gears of War, Half Life 2, and Paper Mario.
I've also spent most of my gaming time playing Halo 3.
I was doing pretty good during the summer while I was in FL, but since school started, I have not touched any games in a while. Besides a match with my brother in NCAA Football 08 or Scene It, I really don't care to start a game I won't finish. I also need to beat Chrono Trigger....then move to Yakuza 2.
Mallas, you do realize that dunk is Nama, right?
Sitting at 23 Games beaten and I might be able to beat 25-27 games by the end of the year. If it wasn't for Call of Duty 4 and, to a lesser extent, Halo 3's online multiplayer I probably would've beaten quite a few more games. Online gaming is why I have a backlog, I try to swear off playing CoD4 and finish off stuff like Dead Space, Wipeout HD and Dragon Quest 4 but it never quite works out that way.
As frustrating as CoD4's flaws can be it's still fun and addictive, it's why I barely play anything else, that's why I'm considering passing on World at War despite how much I'd probably play it. Hell, I'm typing this out between four matches of CoD4.
I think 25 games will be my bar for next year, even if I beat it this year. I'm pretty satisfied with that number and the amount I've (re-)played some games. Especially since the number of purchases versus games beaten is closer than they've been in years.

SSHHHHHHHHH
I tried my hand at Bounty Hunting. Three months on the road, popping fools with mah boom stick. Good times.
I'm only at 8 so far this year, but as my goal is 12, I think I can still hit it. I'm almost 50% of the way through Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia and I'm steadily working on the single-player mode of Guitar Hero: World Tour (Erik and I are working on Career Mode but we only have time to play a set or two each weekend, so it'll be a while). I know I'll finish at least those two in November. I had also started Phoenix Wright: Justice for All right before Castlevania arrived, so I should be able to pick that up again (but I find those games seem to take quite a bit of time). So I know I'll beat at least 11 this year, but I'd really like to finish 12. One a month nowadays with the amount I work (plus time spent on the internet) is pretty solid for me.
