From what I can tell, nobody has started a thread for either game yet. Kind of surprising because I'd say they're probably the two biggest games this holiday season. Three for each from 1up, IGN and Gamespot. Both are scoring great.

Thinking about picking up Resistance 2 today. If anyone wants to play tonight, my id is Grizza79. Unfortunately, I don't have a headset yet, so it could be kinda boring for you though.
Edit: I picked up a Sony brand headset too. God, I love Gamestop trade in deals (extra 40% with the Edge card!).
Gears 2 shall be mine tomorrow! Plus it will be my birthday, best present ever.
I have R2 at the moment, and I am picking up Gears tonight. Someone hit me up for co op in either!
Hey, you're already playing Gears co-op with me, fewl!
I'll let you play Resistance co-op with someone else, though.
I'll be on Gears tomorrow with 3 other dudes. Join us if you want a good time.
I'm leaving school tomorrow night at 7 just so I can make it to an EB to pick up my pre-ordered Limited Edition and actually play the game a bit.
I really don't know which one to get. Gears 2, probably. I actually really enjoyed Gears of War and played through it several times. Not to mention I actually had fun going online with it, and I rarely play games online.
Matt (GK) and I just finished played through the first Act of Gears of War 2. We would have played longer but he has class in the morning, and I didn't want to continue the campaign without him.
The first Act really eases new players into the game, which is good. But even for those of us who were playing the original Gears just earlier today, they keep it interesting throughout.
Now for the good stuff. The graphics, HUD and targeting systems all look cleaner in my opinion, and the gunplay feels more polished. The Locust react realistically to your bullets. And I love how even when you do get downed, you're not totally out of the action. You can begin crawling toward your teamates in order for them to revive you. Not only does keep you in the action, but it's quite a sight to see a downed Locus begin limping away.
My only complaint so far would have to be some of the writing, which continues Marcus and Dom's sometimes corny and/or meatheated dialogue. Otherwise I can already tell that this is a fantastic game.
I'm downloading the five free multiplayer maps as I type.
I will be on tonight playing Gears 2 Multi if anyone is interested in joining. Don't hesisate to join the party. Better to play with friends and acquaintances than strangers, right?

I might be on later tonight. I'm not sure yet. I have to go out tonight, not sure what time I'll be back.

When I do pick this game up, which probably won't be for a few weeks, we'll have to cause some mayhem. Good times were had with the original!

If I'm on XBox Live and not playing online co-op with GK, I'll join. I haven't been able to connect with anyone on multiplayer yet, and I'm curious as to how the new maps, weapons and modes play out.
I won't get it until Monday.

You ass holes lick'em, I wanna play.
GoW 2's Horde mode is a great new addition, and is a lot of fun with at least three people. As much as I love standard multiplayer in action/FPS titles, you don't get to experience true teamwork like you do in Horde.
Matt (GK), one of his friends, one of my online friends and I set up base in the highest platform of the Avalanche map, with one of us covering the left flight of stairs and one of us covering the right flight of stairs. The other two would typically stay more in the center, raining down bullets on the Locust with the Mortar, Mulcher (think minigun) or a typical Lancer or Hammerburst. We got through 15 waves before calling it a night. Good times were had by all.
