Daaaaaaaaamn! Nice going, man. The problem with fighting Gnome to get the combo is that you can only face him once and I'd have to restart to fight him again. I'll just try my luck on the dragon. Plus, he drops a shit load of money.
Thanks Thomas, and good luck with the dragon. I got that combo a couple nights ago while I was playing through on mania mode (damn, and I thought this game was hard before!)
On another Tales note, does anyone know what Lloyd's lvl. 4 ex-skill "canceller" actually does? I can't figure it out! All it says is that you can use "one special special skill after another", but I can't figure out what this actually means during battle. I'm writing this here because we no longer have a "help" forum.
Actually, I've no clue. I've only gone through twice, so maybe I can try to see about that on my third.

I'm still playing on Mania, and things are really tough. I'm to the final part of the game, right after collecting the Derris Emblem, where you can then go and complete several sidequests and optional bosses, including

Maxwell the Summon Spirit, Seles, Abyssion, and the Cursed Book of Sybak. I'm trying to get through the advanced colliseum with Zelos at level 73, but it's SO difficult. I'll post again after I put Abyssion away, the last optional quest I'll complete before finishing the game.
Don't sweat Abyssion. I got him without a problem. Considering your obvious skills, I doubt you'll have a problem.

everything in the game (on mania). Bear in mind also that I didn't spend any money in the grade shop to make things easier on myself.
There are some severe optional battles toward the end! In particular
The three Tales-series characters you have to fight at the end of adv. party colliseum. They used an hourglass on me! Fuckers! Niflheim (the Sybak book dungeon) was much more trying than either of the bosses therein, as I had to stand around at one of the "weak enemy" respawn points for over an hour in order to gain enough soulfire to proceed to the final boss. Abyssion was a pleasant challenge. I beat him with zero life bottles left in my inventory, which was nerve-racking, but that doesn't come close to as small as the margins that I beat Seles (12 hp on Lloyd!) or the third sword dancer (Only Zelos alive, 80 hp) with.
Did you beat those optional battles? How did you fare?
Shit, sorry about taking me so long to reply. I hardly ever check this board.
I never fought the other Tales characters outside of the Colloseum battle. But I actually didn't find Abyssion that hard, if I remember correctly. But the final Sword Dancer battle was hard as hell.
I need to pick ToS back up. Have you played Baten Kaitos?

Yeah, once you get further in the game, you'll get more powerful moves and you can get the secret combos.
