March Playing of Games
Triggerheart Exelica- Finished the game on normal using Exelica. Not bad, I died a lot in the fourth and fifth stages, but I'm sure once I wrap my head around the anchor mechanic I'll do a little better.

Commanders: Attack of the Genos- I decided to get this on a whim. Played the first mission. It seems alright, it's no advance wars, but I can see myself getting some enjoyment out of it.

Lost Odyssey- Jumped back into this after taking a week or so away from it. In general I like the game, but the level cap is already driving me nuts and I can see myself hating it by the end. I like to keep myself 4-5 levels higher than I should be when playing rpgs and I just can't do that here.

RE: March Playing of Games
Went thru Mega Man 1 and 2.

2 is far easier than the last time I played it (it took me hours alone for Wily's castle last time, embarrassingly enough).
Really great game, too.

Fucking retarded that Capcom didn't go all the way and remix all the music in Navi mode. Doesn't get lazier than going from some CD-quality remixed music back to NES midis.

I really need to get the Mega Man collection on PS2. I have it for GC but it's pretty much unplayable on that controller.

RE: March Playing of Games
Tried to get back into Dynamite Headdy, on level 8-3. The game is really annoying me. Even with the level select code to compensate for the lack of continues (seriously, what's up with that?) I'm finding myself frustrated. The boss intros are great the first time, but re-watching them five times? Not so much. It's worsened when a boss has a joke/practice first form that you have to fight again every time you die. I want to like it, but this games doesn't want me to like it.

Most bosses don't even give me issues. It ultimately boils down to me having no patience for the ones that do. But should I really need patience for a Treasure game?

My DS is charged. I'm going back to Advance Wars.

RE: March Playing of Games
Yeah, totally agreed on the continues. You and me are the only guys on the internet I've seen complain about that issue -- seriously what the hell, are we the only normal ones?

You have to get to a certain point to be able to continue; I think it's around the stage where you fight the boss that changes between foreground and background. I still haven't gotten past that boss, either.

I didn't know a level select code, that sounds nice.
I wish I still had my Gamefan issue with the DH blowout preview...that got me so hyped.

C, A, Left, Right, B, Start. Input that when you reach the "start/option" screen. Only way to play the game.

I do really like the game, especially its sense of humor...but I can't play for longer than 30 minutes.

RE: March Playing of Games
Beat chapter 16 of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. I like this story a whole damn lot. As memorable as the original cast was, I'd take the new ones since they actually hold my interest when they talk. It's surprisingly intelligent -- the bad guys are your usual bad guy types, but issues the good guys face on their own ranks make for something fresh. I like the new CO system, too: you can turn the tide of battle in the right position, just not as effortlessly as before. Hopefully the final missions won't put me off.

RE: March Playing of Games
Rock Band - We got a new drum pedal (on our third one) and so I've been drumming for several hours the past few nights. Tonight I spent an hour on that fucking Fall Out Boy song and have managed to get to 65% a couple times. I definitely have gotten better at the song but still don't have it down all that well. I also can get halfway through The Perfect Drug on Expert Big Grin

RE: March Playing of Games
Rock Band - Finally beat the Fall Out Boy song and also Detroit Rock City (only took me two attempts today!). I beat two of the songs in the next tier and I'll work more on the other three pretty soon. Probably tomorrow since I just played for two hours. And I got around 60% in The Perfect Drug. Won't be too long before I'll be able to beat that song.

RE: March Playing of Games
Finsihed Professor Layton early this morning. At times it felt less like a game and more like an exam. As devilish as some of the puzzles are the plot is pretty easy to figure out, but then again that really wasn't the reason I was playing the game.

Overall, a good time, but I absolutely detested the sliding puzzles.

RE: March Playing of Games
Rock Band - And beat two more songs in that tier (Foreplay/Long Time and Cherub Rock). Now I have Don't Fear the Reaper on Expert along with the last tier and I'll be done on expert drums. I think I'm going to start working on improving a lot of my scores, though, since they're rather low and I've gotten a lot better from when I originally set them.

RE: March Playing of Games
Continuing my string of not-so-popular Treasure games, I completed McDonald's Treasure Land. I beat the game on Easy (the default difficulty) when I was a kid, but playing on Normal opens up more levels, so I suppose that's me officially beating it. Not a bad diversion, really. Nice and colorful, some decent music, and I've always liked the sound effect enemies make when you hit them with your magical clown powder. The final boss was really lame though, even by McDonald's Game standards.

I bet it's better than the 360 Burger King games.

Also, completed Mission 18 of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. Still loving it. The Talon Gun was almost super annoying, but I managed to sneak a top-health bomber in and took off 75% of its health in one shot, and finished it off the next turn.

RE: March Playing of Games
I'm still playing Uncharted, I want this thing to last. I've played it a little bit each of the past few days. I last left off on like Chapter 20-something, 'the final showdown' or whatever it was called. I tried it a few times, got blown away each time and decided to call it a day. I'll probably pick it up again tomorrow and try to finish the game. This is my game of last year even though I'm playing it now, it is one of the most fun games I ever played, already added to my list of favorite games of all time. I'm even enjoying this more than Mario Galaxy, it just is the perfect combination of everything to me, the shooting bits from Gears of War, the platforming from a Tomb Raider or Prince of Persia, the jeep and jet ski sequences, the graphics, just incredible.
