Anyhow, what are your thoughts?

Odd game. It constantly moves along but I have to say that the direction they went is pretty odd. It's a dungeon crawler with story bits popping up every five battles it seems. I don't have complaints there but it never lets up. You never feel like you're in a spot where you can relax.

My complaints so far:

- Why the hell does it list EVERY item I pick up, regardless if it's the 99th one on the stack, as a new item. Inventory always looks like I'm picking up new shit because it alerts you for old items as well. Ugh.
- Also, did they really need the Spoils screen to pop up after fights when you get nothing?

Heh, I remember one or two other things while playing I was planning on listing but I can't remember at the moment.

Oh yeah, having to release the stick and push it again to start moving two seconds after leaving the save screen is constantly annoying me.

Aside from that I really like the streamlined experience and the battle system. The battles are so frantic yet still I feel in control. I love how they've handled it. I'm already starting to run into the complaint of where some enemies and bosses have a large amount of hit points but the fights have never lasted more than two minutes I don't believe.

Alright then, your thoughts now.

At the movies in March

Alice In Wonderland
This movie was a mess, apart from the asides that took time to focus on peripheral characters; the movie was a jarring experience with bad characterization and a script & story that felt like little more than a slideshow of shameless references. I also LOVE how Disney seems to have a formula for depicting engagements between entire armies as ridiculously theatrical battles of attrition with no semblance of planning or tactics. As mentioned above, the movie sees its best parts when it takes detours, namely the ones that showcase Burton's BFFs Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. They're both great here, even if Depp seems to be fusing Jack Sparrow and Willy Wonka.

I wish I had stayed home, the blandness of this movie actually affected my sleep.

Two side notes:
-I loved Cheshire Cat and the March Hare.
-Maybe the Theater needed a better quality projector, but the 3D in this movie hurt my eyes on 5 or 6 occasions. NOT ONCE did this happen when I saw Avatar in the same theater.

Alright, that sounds drastic. I won't be selling ALL of my games but I put every game I own in an Excel file and I'll be selling...well, a lot. I'll be willing to part with most and if it's pre-PS1 I'm pretty much 100% willing to get rid of it. I think FFIII for SNES might be the only one I'd possibly argue with. Or you'd have to offer a really fair price

Anyhow, nothing is priced yet but I intend to do so. If you'd rather just wait for a week or two (or however long it takes me to do it) I'll update with a priced listing but if you'd rather just look through and compile a list then I can get you individual prices and from there I might be willing to haggle if you're wanting a good number of titles.

I'll be rather reasonable most the time though a few of the choicest bits I might argue for a standard ebay sort of price as I know I have a handful of rare ones that'll net me a good chunk of change.

Feel free to name your own price as well. A few coworkers have already purchased things off of me because I said yes to the first price they named. So, have at it.

Being an Excel file it's all tabbed by system. Look on the bottom left for the tabs if you're unfamiliar. I can probably convert it to standard text files for someone that doesn't have Excel or OpenOffice installed.

And keep in mind, this is EVERYTHING I own. Some of the newer stuff I won't be getting rid of and there's still some older (well, maybe GBA and newer?) that I have every intention to hold onto due to wanting to play it still. But feel free to ask about anything. Some stuff I may have purchased recently and wouldn't mind getting rid of.

Oh, lastly, I'll be doing it by first come first serve. If you prefer to PM me feel free and based on the timestamp is when I'll decide who came first.

Edit: And to be clear this isn't just for pre-PS1. Most everything should be asked about as there's a low percentage I intend to keep. Lastly, I'm not getting out of gaming. I just don't need this collection. I rarely play anything in the collection. And generally I'm tired of boxing it all up and moving it. I've been taking care of my large debt I built up for years and this past year or two I've really pushed hard to make big dents in it. This is one way I intend to make some extra headway, that's all.

So we have:

Infinity Ward making map packs - that's okay
Treyarch making this year's sequel - eh, we expected and knew this much
Some other developer making next year's sequel - wait...why not Infinity Ward? They're the good ones!
Sledgehammer Games making ANOTHER sequel, this one an action/adventure game - What the fuck?

Activision learned their lesson with Guitar Hero by making too many games in too short a period for one of their main money-making franchises so they're opting to cut that series down to only two games in the music genre.

To counter that they'll now start pumping out as many Call of Duty games across as many developers as they can.

And of course this comes a day after the news of Activision booting a couple head Infinity Ward figures with the rumor being that the Infinity Ward folks didn't agree with the direction Activision was forcing.

The best part is how they explain this direction of milking by saying they're using the Blizzard model. That would be releasing few games and perfecting those ones and in-between games tossing out free content at regular intervals that greatly extend the life of the product. Unless they're going to shock us all with the two map packs from Infinity Ward being completely free I think they're blowing smoke up our collective asses.

I'm not a crazy Call of Duty fan so I don't really see this bothering me all that much as a whole. I'm more worried about everyone that's going to get canned two years from now when the Call of Duty games are underperforming, much like the "Hero" games did this past year. I also can't say I'm a fan of being treated like an idiot as a consumer. Don't call this the Blizzard way. Call it the Activision way as they've already done this and failed one year.

I don't care how you want to do it. I'm making this thread just to post this video because I'm a couple minutes in and seriously just had tears going down my face from laughing so stupidly hard.

To explain there's a glitch in Mortal Kombat Deception where you perform a fatality on yourself by doing a fatality at the same time as a hara kiri or some such nonsense. Some might not find it funny at all but this slays me. Especially when the camera pans away and you just hear the slaughter and blood and the victor comes back missing limbs.

So anyhow, I have plenty others I could share later in my YouTube favorites but feel free to link to others. Embed if you know how or just link. Even pick some old favorite Angry Video Game Nerds or something.

Favourite movie scores

I pretty sure we got a lot of movie fans on this board. For me one of the things that makes a movie excel for me is having a great score to go along with it. I needs that audio magic to go along with the visual stimulation. Sometimes a film doesn't need a score to make an impact (No Country for Old Men comes to mind) but, for the most part I think a film greatly benefits from having a great score. I mean would Darth Vader be as evil if he didn't have that kickass theme that sets the mood perfectly.

So yeah, post your favourite scores/themes. I ask that we don't embed because I don't want peoples computers freezing up. Also if you can post a scene with the score that'd be awesome. Since people will be posting scenes, it's pretty safe to say there will be a lot of spoilers in this thread. Just try to skip the movies you haven't seen or use your own discretion.

For me Chihiro's theme is one of my all time favourites. I hummed that after I watched Spirited Away for weeks. Such a great tune. I'm pretty sure that this tune is present in a lot of Miyazaki's works. For me it doesn't get any better than it's use in Spirited Away. The intro in particular set the mood perfectly it made me feel very uneasy and made me relate to Chihiro and her feelings of turmoil.

So, I got back from vacation and SURPRISE! my 360 decides to crash. I started it up again, and it gave me the RROD. Fuckin' hell. Like any good fellow, I administered some concussive maintenance - but to no avail.

SO! One of my students said that I can buy the Arcade version, and simply swap my old HD into it. I don't really trust him since he's 12, but it sounds like a good deal if it works.

How possible is this, and is it a pain in the ass?

Hey all,

I was the videographer for my cousin's wedding last summer, and I'm FINALLY getting around to editing all the footage and making the dang thing into an actual , you know, video. He's cool with the wait, because I'm good and I charged him nothing.

Anywhoo, I'm gonna model the intro to the wedding vid after the superb intro to the movie Swingers. You know: it's the part where the credits display over a montage of photos of people out on the town, all while Dean Martin sings "You're Nobody 'Till Somebody Loves You".

What I need is to be able to view that initial two minutes of the film. I have the DVD, but of course I forgot the fucking thing in the States. I tried finding it on YouTube, but couldn't. There were tons of other scenes from Swingers, but not the intro scene.

Can ANYONE help me find that scene online? I'll give you a big gold star if you do.
